Agathae Hotel, Scoglitti, Ragusa
This beautiful three-star Sicily hotel is wonderfully situated only a few steps from the sea at Scoglitti, on Sicily's southern coast near Ragusa. This is a relatively undiscovered stretch of coastline in Sicily's southeast corner famous for such towns as Ragusa and Noto, dubbed Baroque towns since they were completely rebuilt in the eighteenth century following a major earthquake. They are famous as charming warrens of narrow streets and eighteenth century facades. Famous Siracusa is also nearby with a whole archaeological park devoted to the ruined Ancient Greek city of Neapolis. Rolling hills dotted with olive trees meet a rugged coastline of rocky coves and hidden caves; the entire coast is dotted with Ancient Greek and Roman antiquities. You'll probably also want to visit Agrigento further east along the coast, where a whole colony of Greek temples overlooking the blue Mediterranean is an unforgettable sight.
Scoglitti's modern and attractive Agathae Hotel boasts a large outdoor swimming pool for soaking up the sun. It also offers the guest many other welcome facilities including a sundeck, a bar, a video games arcade, an air-conditioned restaurant offering all the most renowned Sicilian specialities, a garage and a large open-air recreation area. The rooms are superbly equipped; all come with satellite TV, fridge, minibar, en suite bathroom, air-con and verandah or balcony as standard. With its privileged seafront location and its large pool, the Agathae Hotel in Sicily is the perfect relaxing base from which to explore a beautiful and historic region.
