Albergo Cannon d'Oro, Siena

Via Montanini 28, Siena

This attractive two-star hotel in Siena is centrally located on via Montanini, an elegant shopping street that lies just 200 metres from the Piazza del Campo, where the bi-annual Palio horse race takes place. The bus station is conveniently close and parking is available nearby. The building in which the Albergo Cannon d'Oro is housed has a rich and interesting history. Originally a noble palace owned by the powerful Bulgarini family, it was sold to Ghinibaldo di Saracino and his wife Sapia (who the writer Dante mentioned in his classic work, the Divine Comedy). During the nineteenth century the hotel operated under the name of the Locanda delle Armi d'Inghilterra.

This Siena hotel has been recently refurbished and there are 30 clean, comfortable rooms here, all simply furnished and equipped with en-suite bathroom facilities, cable television and a direct-dial telephone. Rooms are light and airy and guests have the choice between single, double, twin, triple and family rooms. The hotel does not accept pets.

Breakfast is served in a picturesque breakfast room, and consists of a buffet-style continental breakfast. There are plenty of lovely architectural details at the Albergo Cannon d'Oro, Siena and fascinating old artefacts including some attractive ironwork and an antique cannon. There is 24-hour service on reception and the hotel has four parking places for guests: please discuss your needs with the management when making your reservation.
