A marvellous day can be had walking the clifftop path that joins Monterosso, Vernazza, Corniglia, Manarola and Riomaggiore. From up here you get quite stunning views of the Riviera. And on either side of the Golfo dei Poeti from La Spezia, are Portovenere and Lerici, both pretty little towns well worth a stop off on your boat trip. You can also take ferry trips from La Spezia to the French island of Corsica, out in the Mediterranean.
