Albergotto Hotel, Florence
The Albergotto Hotel is conveniently situated in central Florence (Firenze) overlooking the fabulous Palazzo Strozzi. This area was known in the 19th century as the "drawing room of Europe" and travellers from all over the world travelled here to see the great art and to rub shoulders with the fashionable set that gathered here. Among the roll-call of famous guests, this hotel in Florence can count the composers Verdi and Donizetti as well as the English writer, George Eliot among its number.
Having recently undergone a comprehensive programme of renovation and refurbishment, this former private aristocratic residence has been welcoming guests since the end of the Second World War. Now run by the gregarious Martelli family, the hotel has 22 elegant, comfortable rooms, each individually decorated and furnished with pretty antiques and cosy furnishings. Rooms all have smart, hygienic parquet flooring and air conditioning to ensure a restful night's sleep. As well as a modern en-suite bathroom with a built-in hairdryer, rooms are fitted with direct-dial telephone, internet connection point, minibar and personal safe. Tea- and coffee-making facilities are provided to create a homely touch.
Breakfast is served between 7 and 10am and this Florence hotel has a welcoming lounge/bar offering a wide choice of cocktails and aperitifs as well as coffee throughout the day in a relaxed, elegant atmosphere. Pay parking can be found nearby and one child under the age of six may stay free of charge in their parents' room.
