Antico Albergo Terme, Bagni di Lucca
This hotel lies on the outskirts of Bagni di Lucca, famous for its hot springs - said by the famous physicist, Gabriele Falloppio, to have been responsible for curing his deafness in 1569. People have been visiting the area for its spas ever since! The hotel Antico Albergho Terme is situated in the hills near the northern Tuscan town. The ancient city of Lucca is only 25km away, and well worth a trip to admire its medieval ring of walls or stroll around the beautiful historic centre. The famous cities of Pisa and Florence (Firenze) are 45 and 90 kilometres away respectively.
The comfortable and beautifully furnished rooms all have satellite television, direct-dial telephones, minibar and safe. The bathrooms with showers all have hairdryers. The restaurant offers food typical of the region, cooked simply with local ingredients and prepared traditionally.
The spa attached to the hotel also offers a number of wellbeing programmes including the application of thermal muds, thermal water therapies, steam baths and relaxing massages with aromatic oils. Central to these programmes are the natural steam caves. Also on offer are more specialised treatments for rheumatism and other conditions. The thermal waters from Bagni di Lucca come directly from the 'Doccione' spring at a naturally heated 45 degrees Celsius and flow into the swimming pool, which is kept at a constant 32 degrees.
Whether exploring the breathtaking Tuscan landscape, sampling the delights of the thermal waters or taking advantage of the various treatments on offer, this Bagni di Lucca hotel offers an ideal place to stay.
