The Byblos Art Hotel Villa Amista is in Corrubbio Di Negarine - in the heart of the Valpolicella wine growing area. Lying just 7km out of historic Verona, this lovely Veneto hotel offers a setting both evocative and quite unique - a beautifully restored and refurbished Veneto Villa. The large building, with its fifteenth century facade by Michele Sanmicheli was long abandoned but has now been painstakingly brought back to life. The restoration has been both architectural and focused on the decor and paintings within. One of the most difficult tasks was the renovation of the central, monumental part of the villa and its two towers, on the church and the farm buildings.

And what a setting. The Villa sits within extensive formal gardens, with fountains, a swimming pool and a health spa provided by the Dominique and Henri Chenot Institute. For couples looking for a romantic break in this most beautiful of northern Italian regions, look no further. Within the house there is a large hallway dominated by a huge Venetian chandelier. The common rooms have elaborate murals and ceiling decorations. There are three conference rooms, three dining rooms serving the best cuisine of the Veneto and the wider Italy (one of the restaurants is al fresco) and there is, of course, a superb wine cellar for tastings. Free transfers are offered to the centre of historic Verona, to the Arena and the opera.

Rooms have bathroom, air conditioning, radio, phone, TV and minibar. The front desk is open 24 hours for any questions on things to see, places to go, for tickets and travel assistance. The spa centre offers Jacuzzi, massage, gym, Turkish steam bath, hammam, sauna, an outdoor swimming pool and solarium.
