Castello Chiola, Loreto Aprutino

The historic Castello Chiola is a wonderful four-star hotel which stands proudly on top of a hill close to the medieval town of Loreto Aprutino in lovely Abbruzzo countryside not far from Pescara. The location is stunning and the castle is bristling with history featuring saintly legends and tales of noble warriors. The origins of the building date back to the ninth century and the castle has been modified and added to by subsequent owners over more than a thousand years. Guests can enjoy fabulous views over the gorgeous landscape, and the attractive seaside resorts of Pescara and Montesilvano are just a short drive away.

The hotel has a relaxed, informal atmosphere and there are 36 charming rooms, all with lofty, vaulted ceilings and spectacular views of the surrounding plains towards the sea on one side and the brooding Gran Sasso mountain on the other. Every comfort is at hand, including air-conditioning, a superior private bathroom, satellite TV, internet connection and direct-dial telephone. Cots are available on request and children under the age of three stay free of charge.

There are two prestigious restaurants: the elegant Banchetti, reminiscent of a medieval banqueting hall, and the more intimate Il Celliere situated in the castle's former wine caves. There is also a pleasant American-style bar which serves cocktails and coffee in a relaxed atmosphere. A beautiful open-air swimming pool is surrounded by pleasant sun terraces and a conference suite equipped with internet access and audio-visual equipment completes the package.
