With its Tyrrhenian and Ionian Coasts, Calabria has a superb mix of sandy and stony beaches, dramatic rocky coves and, inland, soaring mountain scenery. Most of the hinterland is deserted except for indigenous fauna, the mountain ranges of the Sila and Aspromonte protected under the auspices of the national park.
