This modern four-star hotel is located in the elegant Tuscan spa town of Montecatini, just 500 metres from the ancient spa baths and the town centre. Montecatini Terme is a pretty town based around a thermal spa; it lies at the foot of the Pistoia mountains around 30 kilometres east of Lucca. Popular since the 14th century for its healing and restorative natural waters, the rich and famous have been coming here for decades to relax and rejuvenate themselves. The central Parco delle Terme is particularly beautiful and the shopping is excellent. A little funicular railway takes visitors up to the old town of Montecatini Alto, where there are some wonderful views and a selection of good restaurants and atmospheric bars.
