Hotel Acquario, Genova
Named after the nearby Aquarium - at its launch the largest in Europe with over 600 different types of fish, reptiles, amphibians and mammals - the Hotel Acquario is equidistant from both Genoa's railway stations, not far from the historic city centre and the old University district. The city's business district is not far away and all the city's major attractions, such as the famous Palazzo Ducale, the huge Aquarium, the Museo del Mare (maritime museum) and the Palazzo San Giorgio are all within easy walking distance. Genoa (Genova) is one of northern Italy's most interesting cities, with a long and colourful history as a major trading port on the silk route and home to its most famous son, Christopher Columbus. In 2004 Genoa was appointed European Capital of Culture and there is always plenty going on in the way of exhibitions, concerts and festivals.
There are 30 en-suite rooms at this hotel in Genoa, all with direct-dial telephone, satellite television, individually controlled air-conditioning, a separate sitting area with minibar and internet connection point. Guests can choose between singles, doubles triples or family rooms. While this Genoa hotel does not have its own restaurant, friendly, multilingual staff will be only too happy to recommend one of the city's many excellent eateries or offer tourist information about the city and surrounding area. The hotel has a cosy bar with an extensive drinks menu. Pets are welcome by prior arrangement with the hotel staff and there is room service 24 hours a day.
