Hotel Alabarda, Trieste
Via Valdirivo 22, TriesteHotel Alabarda is a simple, spotless and bijou hotel ideally located in a residential street in Trieste's historic city centre, not far from the waterfront. Trieste is an attractive port city with a cosmopolitan feel and a fascinating history, slightly away from the main tourist track. It has only been part of Italy since 1918, and there is something of an Eastern European feel to the city centre, with its imposing nineteenth century architecture - a legacy from the Austro-Hungarian emperors who made Trieste their base. There are ancient Roman monuments, too, with the ruins of the amphitheatre close to the city centre, and wonderful streets bristling with charming cafes, restaurants and fascinating antique shops.
The hotel has 18 spacious rooms, all with satellite TV, direct-dial telephone and hairdryer. Several rooms have en-suite shower room facilities, wake-up calls are available on request and a tasty continental-style breakfast is served in the bright, sunny breakfast room between 7.30 and 10.00am. Children are made very welcome by the friendly, helpful hotel staff and cots are available on request. All rooms are accessible by lift. A small range of business facilities include internet access, photocopying and a fax service. Visa, Amex and MasterCard are all welcome.
