Hotel Alla Citta Di Trieste, Grado
Hotel Alla Citta di Trieste is located on the island of Grado, right by the old fishing harbour in the heart of the historic town. The popular beach at Costa Azzurra is no more than a couple of minutes' walk away and there are stunning views of romantic Mandracchio from the hotel. This hotel near Venice lies on the edge of the beautiful Gulf of Trieste, and is particularly popular (due to its location) with Austrians and Germans (as well as Italians) for its wonderful sandy beaches and proximity to Venice and Trieste. The island - known as the golden island - is linked to the mainland by a network of roads and is full of wonderful ice cream parlours and excellent seafood restaurants. In winter, is reverts to a charming medieval fishing heamlet lined with narrow streets and the typical "casoni" fishermen's houses.
The style of the hotel is informal, yet elegant and there are 24 attractively presented rooms. All rooms are en-suite and some boast tremendous views over the historic centre or the pretty port. Guest rooms are comfortably air-conditioned and heated during the cooler months with satellite television, direct-dial telephone, and a full English breakfast or lighter continental-style version is included in the room rate.
There is an excellent restaurant offering delicious local seafood alongside traditional Italian specialities; the hotel also has a stylish bar area with an extensive drinks list. There are spa facilities within the hotel including a range of relaxing beauty treatments and mountain bikes may be hired from the reception desk. Nearby there's a nine-hole golf course and guests are offered a valet-parking service. Pets are welcome in the hotel.
