Hotel Alpi Resort, Turin
This three-star Turin hotel is very central, located near the banks of the River Po and the Via Murazzi promenade, which is lined with shops and restaurants. Also very close to the hotel is one of Turin's most famous monuments, the Mole Antonelliana, an elaborate building which was designed to be a synagogue in the 19th century, but which was taken over by the council when building costs escalated beyond the means of Turin's Jewish community. It is now home to the Museo del Cinema where you can see some of the earliest cinematic equipment and the first experimental attempts at creating moving images.
The 16th-century Palazzo Reale has to be seen to be believed, as although it is unspectacular on the outside, the interior is lavishly decorated with gilding and allegorical paintings from floor to ceiling. Just across the Piazza Castello is the more sedate Palazzo Madama, with its pretty Baroque facade designed by 18th-century architect Juvarra. Other interesting attractions to visit include the Museo Egizio, which holds the most important collection of Egyptian antiquities outside of Cairo, and the Museo di Antichita, where you can see archeological finds from throughout the Piemonte region.
The Hotel Alpi Resort, Turin has obliging, multilingual staff and a wide range of services, including laundry, 24-hour front desk and room service, fax and tourist information. There is also a hotel bar and private parking available for guests. The bedrooms are equipped with everything you need for a truly comfortable stay, such as satellite TV with movie channel, telephone, internet access, minibar, trouser press, iron, air conditioning and en-suite bathroom.
