This comfortable three-star hotel in Siena really does offer guests an experience of historic Tuscany. Hotel Antica Torre - the old tower - is housed in a beautifully restored sixteenth-century tower within the medieval city walls, and rooms are full of lovely period details such as wonderful beamed ceilings and exposed stone walls. All the major attractions of Siena are within easy walking distance - the beautiful shell-shaped Piazza del Campo. This is a city of beautifully preserved Renaissance buildings and some fabulous churches and art galleries. And this accommodation's location close to the city walls makes excursions into the pretty Tuscan countryside and the Chianti region easy to arrange.

Hotel Antica Torre has just eight guest rooms, each one tastefully decorated in typical Tuscan style and fitted with a modern en-suite bathroom. All rooms are comfortably air-conditioned and have satellite television, alarm clock, direct-dial telephone and a built-in hairdryer. Furnishings are elegant and in keeping with the historic style of the building - wrought-iron bedsteads, antique prints, antique writing desks and rich fabrics. A central travertine stone staircase leads you to your room and the rooms on the top floor offer glorious views over Siena's rooftops and the green rolling countryside beyond. Breakfast is served (at a small additional cost) in a cosy breakfast room which was once a medieval pottery and which has bags of atmosphere.

Although the hotel doesn't have a bar or breakfast room, friendly, helpful staff are on hand to offer advice and information about bars and trattorias in the area. Staff at this Siena hotel can also advise about the various tours and excursions on offer and make reservations on your behalf. As well as a safe-deposit facility the establishment can offer ADSL internet connection, newspapers and a fax facility. Parking can easily be found close to the hotel (the centre of town is largely pedestrianised) and various outdoor activities are on hand with horse riding, tennis courts and golf within easy driving distance.
