The city of Turin/Torino is around 50 kilometres north of this Saluzzo hotel, while the wine towns of Alba and Asti are to the east. Historic sights in Saluzzo itself are many. The town was always strategically important, lying close to the border with France, and Saluzzo was an independent city state during the Middle Ages, before falling to France and Savoy. There is a fine Gothic Duomo (cathedral), and a number of important churches in the old town. The Saluzzese area stretches from the Monviso foothills down to the fertile Po River valley. Around the town you should see the Abbey at Staffarda, Manta Castle, and certainly take in the wine tours around Le Langhe.
