Located just 100 metres from Lake Garda, and 2.5 kilometres from the centre of Sirmione, the three-star Hotel Arena has been newly renovated. The air-conditioned rooms have bathroom facilities, satellite television and a telephone and most of them have balconies with views of the lake or garden. In Sirmione itself, you can visit the Rocca Scaligera, an 800-year-old castle with incredible views of the lake, walk around the pedestrianised town, or take a ferry or bus to one of the many resorts around the lake, such as Bardolino, which gives its name to the superb wine made there. While water sports are the main activity in Lake Garda, the area is also good for dry-land pursuits, such as walking, playing golf and mountain-biking. Its location on the southern shore of Lake Garda means the hotel is close to the motorway, with Verona and Mantua (Mantova) just an hour or so away. If you have children, a day out to Gardaland theme park or Canevaworld on the eastern shore of the lake, past Peschiera, is sure to keep them entertained.
