This family-run hotel in Levanto is surrounded by lush vegetation on a quiet country road just 400 metres from the sandy beach, the best for miles around. The town is a great base for visiting the Golfo di Tigullio and the exclusive jetsetters resort of Portofino, or the stunning Cinque Terre villages, which lie just beyond the Punta Mesco headland. You can follow the many hiking trails which run between the villages and take you through breathtaking coastal scenery. However, Levanto has better transport links than the villages themselves, so it is perfect if you are planning a tour of Liguria and beyond.

The town itself has a bustling Wednesday market where you can buy typical local produce and its beach attracts surfers from all over Europe. Here you can rent surf boards, pedalos, canoes and motorboats. There are many architectural sites worth visiting, such as the Loggia Communale on the Piazza del Popolo, the 13th-century black-and-white striped Church of Sant'Andrea, and the remaining stretches of the town's medieval walls.
