Originally a handsome 18th-century villa, the Hotel Casafrassi, Castellina in Chianti, has been comprehensively renovated and restored to create a charming country house hotel in a fabulous location. The Chianti area consists of a delightful landscape dotted with vineyards, wooded hills and sleepy little hamlets. Some of Italy's best wines are produced here and there are also plenty of olive groves providing delectable olive oil.

This Chianti accommodation has 25 spacious, light-filled rooms, all with private bathroom facilities featuring either a bath or shower. Every room offers a magnificent view out over the lovely hotel gardens or towards the surrounding vineyards and woodland. Rooms are situated either in the main villa or in a separate guest annex and all have direct-dial telephone, air-conditioning, a refrigerated minibar, satellite television, hairdryer and personal safe. The main villa has a lift/elevator and all the rooms are situated either on the first or second floor.

There is a light, airy restaurant and bar with an adjoining terrace offering fabulous rustic views. A delicious menu of typical regional dishes made using local produce is served and the staff are professional and discreet. There is also a well-appointed meeting room accommodating 35 people, equipped with a screen and overhead projector. In the gardens of this Chianti hotel there is an attractive open air pool, a children's play area and tennis courts; there are plenty of opportunities for scenic walks or bike rides in the extensive hotel grounds or in the nearby woods.

The city of Siena is just ten kilometres away - an easy excursion or day trip. In addition, the hotel organises cookery, wine-tasting and art tours and outings to nearby places of interest such as Pienza, Cortona and San Gimignano.
