Hotel Centrale, Cernobbio

On the very border of Italy and Switzerland, the Hotel Centrale in Cernobbio occupies a quite lovely position. Set on the western banks of Lake Como, the hotel is within a building dating from 1902, and now extensively modernised and remodelled - while still retaining its old-world charm.

The hotel sits 200 metres from the lake and the jetty for boats out onto Como. This is the historic centre of Cernobbio. Nearby sights include the 16th century Villa D'Este, the 17th century Villa Pizzo and the Villa Erba, dating from the 1800s. Como is just 3km away, with its marvellous medieval Cathedral and the Basilica of Sant'Abbondio. Within easy reach are Bellagio (fine old villas and gardens), Lenno, Tremezzo and Moltrasio. There is good walking out to Bisbino Mountain and plenty of fun to be had on the lake, including scuba diving, pedaloes, canoes and water skiing, or more sedate boat trips.

200 metres from here is the Villa Erba congress centre, and the new Milano Fair/Rho Pero exhibition centre is 25 minutes away. You are just 40 minutes from Milan Malpensa airport and 4km from Como rail station. The main highway exit from the A9 is just a kilometre from the hotel. Milan is 50km south of here.

The hotel has a restaurant, bar and lounge, free car park and plenty of outdoor space in which to relax and for the children to play in. There are private fishing rights, and the front desk is open 24 hours for any other questions.
