Outside the city is the Trieste plateau (the Carso) which has more than 1500 caves, including the Grotto Gigante, the world's largest tourist cave, big enough to swallow St Peter's cathedral in Rome! No parking is available at the hotel but pets are allowed at no extra charge. Children under three years can stay free of charge if using existing bedding. The closest airport is Trieste's Friuli Venezia Giulia.
