A recently built holiday village on the coast of Puglia's Gargano Promontory - the Hotel Club Village Maritalia is on the Bay of Peschici, close to Vieste. This is a terrific base for family holidays on Italy's sunsoaked Adriatic coast. There are 190 nicely appointed rooms, a choice of swimming pools and a host of other services.

Each unit in the villa area has its own entrance and a tiled patio, softened with Mediterranean climbing shrubs. The interiors of the accommodation have furnishings in hazel and walnut. Accommodation is air conditioned, with satellite TV, telephone, bathroom with shower, work desk, safe and hairdryer. There is a restaurant and bar, and gardens. Accommodation is provided for guests with limited mobility, and all areas of the hotel are non smoking.

There is a sandy beach nearby, or you can just relax by one of the three freshwater pools (one of them specifically for the children). You can cool off with drinks from the Oasis Bar. Facilities at this Puglia resort hotel include table tennis, sauna, massage, tennis court and Turkish Bath.

When you go offsite, you have the beautiful Gargano Promontory to discover. This entire headland was designated as the Parco Nazionale del Gargano (national park) in 1981, and at its heart lies the lovely woodland of the Foresta Umbra. There are historic towns such as Manfredonia and Monte Sant'Angelo, and the Padre Pio pilgrimage site of San Giovanni Rotondo.
