This glorious four-star hotel is part of the prestigious Ciana Hotels chain, and has an excellent location right on the sea front in the elegant Riviera resort of Santa Margherita Ligure. Set in a stunning Liberty-style building dating from the early 1900s, the Hotel Continental stands on the top of a south-facing cliff and is separated from the sea by a procession of tall palm trees. The atmosphere is lovely and peaceful here, and this is a great place from which to discover the glorious Gulf of Tigullio. The chic resort of Portofino lies just along the coast and the extraordinary clifftop villages of Cinque Terre are less than an hour from here.

There are 70 double and single guest rooms, all with private en-suite bathroom facilities, direct-dial telephone, satellite television and a personal safe for your documents and belongings. Several rooms have spacious balconies with sea views and, in addition, the hotel has air conditioning and wi-fi internet connection; a tasty, continental-style breakfast is included in the room rate.

Impressive meeting facilities include a well-equipped conference centre seating up to 30 people and a full business-support service. The Continental has an excellent and very popular restaurant with an open-air terrace with sea views; between May and October a small al fresco restaurant serves meals on the hotel's private beach. There is friendly, helpful 24-hour service on the front desk, where guests will find safety-deposit and storage facilities as well as a selection of tourist information. The hotel also has a pleasant bar and a lovely garden where children can play safely. Small, well-behaved pets are welcome to join their owners here and there is a valet-parking service.
