Hotel Cursula, Cascia
Viale Cavour 3, CasciaThe Hotel Ristorante Cursula in Cascia has more than half a century of hospitality and culinary tradition behind it. And with the current owners being the third generation of the family to run things here, the traditional values are set to continue for some time. Cascia lies in Perugia province, in the central Italian region of Umbria. Bedrooms at this Cascia hotel are doubles, triples and suites. All have cable TV, bathroom, phone, and hairdryer. The hotel has a restaurant, garden, free parking, internet access, laundry and a shuttle service to and from the airport.
The lovely little Umbrian town of Cascia would be easy to overlook. Tucked in the mountainous south east of Umbria region, it lies around 21km from Norcia and on the road to Rieti (south in the Lazio region). The 'modern' town (modern is very much a relative term in this ancient part of Europe), tumbles down the hillside, sitting atop the old Roman settlement of Carsulae, which was razed by an earthquake in the first century BC. Sacked by the Byzantines and the Lombards in the Middle Ages it then became a possession of the Papal States. Nearby towns include Terni, Spoleto and Foligno. Umbria itself is a lovely region, often referred to as the 'green heart of Italy' and an unspoiled delight of woods, streams, valleys, rolling hills and picture book hill towns. This superb Cascia hotel puts you at its heart.
