Hotel Da Vestro, Monticiano

The Hotel Da Vestro is a friendly, family-run establishment pleasantly situated in a former farmhouse on the outskirts of Monticiano. This B&B-style hotel in Chianti is full of charm and character, named after its original owner, Silvestro Bercucci, the son of a local woodcutter who converted the farmhouse with the help of an ingenious local architect. The hotel is now run by his daughters, Fiorella and Sandra, and Fiorella's son, Jacopo. The countryside around is famous locally for its wild mushrooms and game hunting and Siena, Florence and Pienza are all within easy reach for a day trip or excursion.

There are 12 bedrooms at this Chianti accommodation, each simply furnished with taste and equipped with en-suite bathroom facilities. A selection of complimentary toiletries is provided and bedrooms have a direct-dial telephone, satellite television and central heating.

A delightful restaurant serves typical Tuscan rustic fare featuring locally caught game and wild mushrooms cooked along with seasonal local vegetables and home-made sauces and pasta. There is a banquet room and an ample terrace in the garden where guests can dine during the summer months. A particularly attractive feature of the restaurant is its wine list, which features more than 200 labels carefully chosen from central and southern Tuscany, including Super Tuscans rarely tasted outside the region.

Pets are welcome at this Chianti hotel and there is an outdoor play area for children in the garden. In addition, there is a small open-air pool which is open to guests between May and September. There is a little meeting room and a small selection of therapeutic and relaxing beauty treatments is also on offer; there is ample parking space in the hotel car park.
