Diano Marina sits close to the border with France, on the Italian Riviera. Monaco is just over the border and Sanremo is a close neighbour. Sitting at the centre of the Gulf of Diana, this area has been dubbed the 'Riviera of Flowers'. Not only does this part of Liguria have a huge number of nurseries, but the hotels are liberally garlanded with their produce. Though dating back to the Iron Age, Diano Marina was razed by the 1887 earthquake and is a predominantly modern, and very popular, seaside resort. You'll find the Roman and medieval remains they managed to salvage in the town museum. There are lovely walks around the hills and coast, including the ancient Savoia road. This Diano Marina hotel is a superb family base on the Ligurian coast.
