The Hotel du Lac occupies a stupendous lakeside position, on the western shore of Como and in the historic centre of Menaggio. This lovely accommodation is run by the Beretta family and was entirely renovated in 2001. Set only 10 metres from the waters of Lago di Como, it has just ten rooms. Elegantly furnished, each guestroom has satellite TV, phone, minibar, safe and air conditioning. Some rooms also have a balcony and whirlpool bath. The hotel has a lift/elevator to all floors, and its Caffe Centrale allows you to relax, take a drink and enjoy a superb view of the lake.

There is private pay parking 100 metres from the hotel. Menaggio is the ideal base for exploring this central lakes region: the Hotel Du Lac is just 15 metres from the taxi stand, 30 metres from the bus stop and 150 metres from the landing stage for boats and ferry boats. Como is 35km from here, Milan and Milano Malpensa airport 80km. Lugano (Switzerland) is 26km away and St Moritz 100km. Boat trips take you around the lake to some superb towns and other beauty spots, including Bellagio, Varenna, Isola Comacina, Lenno, Gravedona, Colico and Piona. There are some terrific golf courses around here (and you'll be playing amidst some stunning scenery), and there is swimming, sailing and other watersports on the lake.
