This charming little two-star hotel on Lake Maggiore offers comfortable, simple accommodation in a charming location, just two minutes from the lakeside and within easy walking distance of the boat station. A friendly, family-run hotel, Baveno's Hotel Elvezia is pleasantly located opposite an ancient church in historic centre of the pretty little town. Baveno is in the Verbano-Cusio province of Piedmont region. All the attractions of Lake Maggiore are on hand - windsurfing, snorkeling, sailing and boat trips - and the famous Borromeo Islands lie just across the water from here. Behind are the brooding Dolomite mountains, which surround the lake, filled with hiking trails and vast natural parks to explore. From here you can take the train to Domodossolo where the wonderful Lake Maggiore Express train runs to Locarno at the northern tip of the lake; it crosses breathtaking ravines, rivers and viaducts along its journey. This Baveno hotel keeps a special "Red Book" in which guests offer their suggestions for itineraries and suggestions for places to visit in the area.

There are just 15 rooms at this Baveno accommodation, some of which offer stunning views of the lake while others have beautiful mountain views. Most of the rooms have their own en-suite bathroom facilities with a shower, basin and toilet, while a handful have shared facilities. Guests can choose between single, double and twin rooms and there is a huge family room which sleeps four. A generous buffet breakfast of hot and cold dishes accompanied by fruit juice and coffee is included in the room rate, and this is served either in the hotel breakfast room or in the garden, between 8 am and 12 noon.

This Lake Maggiore hotel has a lovely garden, a welcoming bar and free parking for guests. Quiet, well-behaved pets are allowed in the hotel and children are offered a reduced rate with under-twos staying free of charge. Cots are available at a small extra charge. Service on the front desk is friendly and helpful and the hotel has an internet point which guests are welcome to use.
