One of the palazzos, the Palazzo del Popolo, is one of the most ancient communal places in Italy, and is now used to house the town art gallery. Legend has it that the town was built by Hercules after he killed Cacus here, though more certain history has it being founded by the ancient Umbri (Umbrian) people in the seventh century BC.
The Hotel Fonte Cesia, Todi is a fully renovated 17th century palazzo, built on 15th century foundations by the Atti family, which once ruled Todi. The 13th century church of Saint Benedetto is adjacent to the main building, and it has now been converted into a lecture hall. The hotel has its own restaurant serving local Umbrian cuisine, and there is also a lounge and bar where you can relax with a drink. Staff are on hand around the clock at the 24-hour front desk, and parking is provided for every guest.
