These days, the crowds squeeze in on summer nights to hear Verdi, Rossini and Mozart performed under the stars. Other Classical sights in the town include the Arco del Gavi and the Porta Borsari. There is superb medieval architecture such as the Basilica di San Zeno Maggiore, and some beautiful Renaissance palazzi. The old centre is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, so important is it culturally and architecturally, and the main hub of town is the Piazza delle Erbe - a meeting and market place.
