The Hotel Garden, Levanto is run by the Cassola family and is situated above a charming gelateria in a modern building overlooking the sea and park. Levanto has great public transport links, so it is an ideal base from which to explore the whole of the Ligurian coastline.

Nearby attractions include the Cinque Terre villages, linked by a web of interconnected hiking trails which take you through the stunning National Park and breathtaking cliffside scenery. Further to the east is the Golfo di Poeti, which earned its name because of the many literary visitors, such as Petrarch and Byron, who chose to immortalise its beauty in verse. Levanto itself is a lively market town, with some outstanding 13th-century buildings, such as the Church of Sant'Andrea and the Loggia Communale. The sandy beach offers great surfing and you can also hire motorboats if you want to explore the Golfo di Tigullio at your leisure. Or, to the west of Levanto, you can visit the chic resort of Portofino, with its yacht-filled harbour and chic boutiques.
