This charming little B&B-style hotel is situated in the south of Florence, in an area called Gavinana, from which it takes its name. A pleasant, modern building constructed in the 1950s, the hotel is set within pretty gardens and is simply furnished in a homely, unfussy style. Public transport links from here are excellent and the beautiful town of Fiesole is also easily accessible from here. Downtown Florence and the legendary Ponte Vecchio is just ten minutes away by bus.

Florence's Hotel Gavinana has just ten bright, spacious rooms, some with a full complement of private en-suite bathroom facilities, others with a shower and a washbasin, and all with satellite television with a range of international channels, (including Eurosport, CNN, Antenne and BBC channels), plus direct-dial telephone and a minibar stocked with drinks and snacks. A continental-style breakfast is included in the room rate and some rooms have a small private balcony, too.

There is friendly, efficient 24-hour service on the front desk, where guests will find a useful internet point and safety-deposit facilities. There is a children's play area in the hotel garden and under-12s stay free of charge in their parents' room.
