Housed inside a wonderful 17th century building, the Hotel Greif is pleasantly located in a quiet oasis of calm amid the bright lights and buzzing restaurants of downtown Bolzano/Bozen. Recently restored and completely renovated, this five-star Tyrolean hotel cleverly blends a feeling of timelessness with the latest in modern comforts, creating a relaxing place to stay whether for business or pleasure. Several contemporary artists were asked to create artworks for each of the 33 guest rooms and these have been juxtaposed with more traditional paintings to great effect. Rooms are totally individual and feature beautiful decor and carefully chosen furnishings.

Each of the 33 air-conditioned, en-suite rooms is equipped with satellite/cable TV, with 85 different Italian and international channels to choose from. All rooms have a computer for guests to use with fast ADSL internet connection, direct-dial telephone with fax facility and radio/alarm clock - while some rooms also have a small terrace, a whirlpool hydromassage bath and their own private sauna. There are even rooms with a piano for musically-inclined guests and all bathrooms are fitted with a hairdryer, shower and luxurious bath.

Floors inside the hotel are in beautiful dark Wenge wood laid with hand-crafted Gabbeh rugs; windows are draped with raw silk curtains. Antique furniture stands alongside beautifully crafted modern pieces from the hotel's own workshop. The views from the breakfast terrace stretch out over the city roofscape to the slopes of the Schlern, one of the most prominent peaks in the Dolomites/Dolomiti.

The restaurant at the nearby Parkhotel Laurin offers a huge selection of wines and dishes from South Tyrol and the rest of Italy. During the summer months, meals are served under cool canopies in the glorious gardens. There is also a private pool in the attractive parkland there where guests may enjoy a refreshing swim.

There is 24 hour service on the front desk where guests will also find a dry-cleaning and laundry service, a safe-deposit facility and an internet point. There is a babysitting service for families with young children and small, well-behaved pets are welcome to join their owners. A range of spa services such as massages and facials can be booked at the reception desk and plenty of parking is available in the vicinity of the hotel.
