Hotel Henry, Venice
Venice's Hotel Henry offers two-star accommodation on Calle Ormesini, in Cannaregio sestiere (district). This is the historic heart of the city, and yet you are just ten minutes from the railway station at Santa Lucia and a quarter hour from the bus and car terminal at Piazzale Roma. Having alighted from your car, bus or train, you will take the a waterbus along the canal to your hotel - the perfect way to arrive in Venezia.
This is a lovely base for your vacation in Venice - a hotel owned and run by a family, and with the flexibility to satisfy every guest. Rooms are furnished in the classic Venetian style, providing a comfortable and relaxing base for your stay in the city. Rooms are double, triple and quadruple, so families are well looked after. Breakfast is optional (you can pay to eat in or head out to a cafe) and there are plenty of traditional restaurants, osterie and more nearby.
Cannaregio itself is one of the six historic districts (sestieri, literally 'sixths') of the city and is clustered around the Cannaregio Canal, forming the north-western corner of Venice. Before the railway came, visitors would enter the city via this canal. Dating back to the eleventh century, the sestiere was once the working class heart of the town and is rich in historic sights, including Europe's original Jewish Ghetto, Sacca della Misericordia, the Ca' d'Oro and historic churches such as Santa Maria dei Miracoli. From here, you are within easy reach of Piazza San Marco (either on foot or by boat along the Canal Grande).
