This lovely atmospheric three-star hotel in Salerno province is located in the ancient town of Paestum. Housed in a beautiful old building which was once a granary, Il Granaio dei Casabella stands directly opposite the entrance to the ancient archaeological site and there are amazing views of the temple ruins from many of the guest rooms. Originally an ancient Greek colony dating from around 600 BC, Paestum has a wealth of ancient culture and history, and along the coast stretches the glorious Amalfi coastline, with its picturesque villages clinging to the rocks overlooking the sea. The coast in this part of Italy boasts over 17 kilometres of fine, sandy beach and beautiful clear water and the climate is temperate and mild. This is an idyllic place from which to explore the Gulf of Salerno; attractive and interesting places to visit such as Positano, Pompeii, Amalfi and Ravello are all within easy reach for an excursion or day trip, while boats and hydrofoils sail regularly from Salerno to the islands of Capri and Ischia.
