This small and friendly hotel in Florence is located in a quiet side street in the residential Santissima Annunziata district of the city, not far from the downtown centre with its wonderful architecture and familiar landmarks. The famous Piazza del Duomo and Florence's glorious cathedral lie just seven minutes walk away and the area directly around the hotel is elegant and peaceful, despite being so close to the city centre. It's easily accessible by car or taxi and the train station at Santa Maria Novella is two kilometres away, or ten minutes by taxi. Hotel Il Granduca is set within a lovely historic building typical of 18th-century Florentine style and the interior is decorated with beautiful paintings, sculptures, pieces of furniture and coats of arms from that period. The hotel entrance leads to a comfortable lobby - an ideal spot for meeting friends or relaxing with a book or a magazine - while adjacent, a cosy sitting room is also a quiet place to sit. On the first floor there is a welcoming bar and a bright, spacious breakfast room.

There are 21 well-appointed en-suite guest rooms, most of which are decorated in elegant Venetian style with carefully chosen furnishings. Rooms are equipped with a direct-dial telephone, a satellite television with radio alarm and a personal safe for your valuables. Breakfast is included in the room rate and this consists of a rich and varied buffet of hot and cold dishes (served in a shady courtyard during the summer). Staff are helpful and offer an attentive, personal service with information and advice about events and activities in the city and its surroundings. An arrangement exists with a local garage whereby guests can park their cars at preferential rates or hire an electric car to use around the city. There is also an attractive children's play area outside in the hotel's pretty gardens.
