A flowering oasis amid lush lawns and beautifully manicured gardens - the Hotel Is Benas Country Lodge lies on a little cape on the western coast of Sardinia, a few miles north of Oristano.

Oristano may be Sardinia's smallest province but it has some of the most unspoiled, dramatic and beautiful scenery on the island. Very green, the coastline is cut into by natural lagoons, vast expanses of water which are home to flocks of pink flamingos. There are superb medieval buildings, imposing Roman ruins, Romanesque churches, and of course the clear blue waters of the Mediterranean. There are superb beaches, including the white quartz strand at Mari Ermi, white sand beaches at Sa Rocca Tunda and Putzu Idu and at Mal di Ventre. This stretch of Sinis coastline is a protected marine area. Nearby too you'll find the Arenas Golf Club, an 18-hole course amid pine forest - a quite stunning place to play.

And yet, this is a marvellously convenient location, just 15 minutes drive from Oristano, 90 minutes from the airports at Alghero and Cagliari, and 120 minutes from Olbia airport. All bedrooms (and there are two junior suites too) have air conditioning, colour satellite TV, minibar, direct phone, bathroom with shower or tub, hairdryer and safe. The hotel has a great restaurant with very good Sardinian wine list; other facilities include a freshwater swimming pool with solarium, sunshades and loungers, a floodlit tennis court and boules court.
