Hotel La Ninfa, Amalfi

This extremely pretty and atmospheric three-star hotel in Amalfi is located about two kilometres from the centre of town, perched on a dramatic cliff face overlooking the sea. It has a particularly stunning entrance lobby which is backed by a lovely arched veranda, through which you glimpse a fantastic 180-degree panoramic view of the Amalfi coast and the shimmering Mediterranean sea. The hotel is built in the architectural style of the 1950s and the interior is finished in terracotta and blue marble. The area is brimming with interesting places to visit - Positano and Sorrento are close by and the islands of Ischia and Capri are just a short boat ride out into the Bay of Naples.

There are nine spacious, high-ceilinged guest rooms at Amalfi's Hotel La Ninfa, all with breathtaking sea views. The decor has a zodiac theme and rooms are fully en-suite with direct-dial telephone, radio/alarm clock, colour TV, computer hook-up, individually controlled air conditioning and a minibar stocked with drinks and snacks. A delicious buffet-style continental breakfast is included in the room rate.

There is friendly, helpful 24-hour service on the front desk and a range of services includes access to the hotel's private stretch of beach with umbrella and sun-bed hire; and parking is also available at a nominal extra charge. There is a handy bus stop just a few yards from the hotel with services to the centre of Amalfi as well as Ravello, Sorrento and Positano, from where hydrofoils run regularly to the islands in the Bay of Naples. Young children sharing a room with their parents stay free of charge.
