Hotel La Piazza, Panarea. This is a superb location, with this Panarea hotel occupying a prime spot on the eastern coast of this second smallest of the Aeolian Islands. The interiors of this Panarea hotel have been realised with the most painstaking detail. The lovely furnishings are complemented by ceramic work by the renowned Sicilian artisans of Caltagirone and Santo Stefano di Camastra. Outside, the swimming pool is filled with warm seawater and has a jacuzzi. There are 34 bedrooms here, all with spacious terraces and modern comforts. The atmosphere - white, light and air filled, is typical of the Aeolian Islands. Activities include the thermal springs, hiking, diving, snorkelling and windsurfing; and onsite there is a solarium and hammam. The bar here opens onto a superb panoramic terrace, where you can enjoy long drinks prepared expertly by the bar staff, and enjoy the restaurant during the evening. Here you can dine by candlelight, beneath the enchanting star-filled sky, watching the anchored boats bobbing in the bay.
