Nearby 'must sees' include the Romanesque Cathedral of San Secondiano (dating from 560AD), and the Labyrinth of Porsenna. These are a series of tunnels beneath the town, dug in the sixth century BC, and mentioned in the writings of Pliny the Elder. This ancient town was one of the most powerful in central Italy before Roman times. Two thousand or more years ago it was one of the 12 cities that made up the Etruscan Confederation. Within a quarter hour of the hotel you can walk to the Catacombs of Saint Mustiola or Saint Caterina.

It also sits among quite lovely countryside. Tuscany is a beautiful region of course, and from the windows of this Chiusi hotel you can gaze out onto the green valley that runs down from the Amiatas and Cetona mountains. There is great walking and biking around here too.
