For those with more sedate tastes, there is much of historical and cultural interest in Rimini itself: Roman remains including the Arco Augusto; superb Renaissance buildings such as the remarkable Tempio Malatestiana. Head up the coast and you'll come to San Marino, one of Europe's tiniest countries; head inland and you can explore the beautiful hinterland of the Emilia-Romagna region.
