Hotel Mediterraneo is a recently opened three-star hotel opposite Syracuse's ancient harbour. Conveniently located for the ancient Island of Ortigia, all the major sights are within easy walking distance and the railway station is just a couple of hundred metres away.

Syracuse has a fascinating past and is steeped in history having been shaped by ancient Roman, Greek, Arab, French and Spanish influences during its 3,000-year-old history. Not far from the hotel, you can discover ancient Greek temples, flamboyant baroque churches and mysterious medieval alleyways where you could easily imagine yourself somewhere in North Africa.

With just nine spacious, elegantly furnished rooms, each with en-suite bathroom, air-conditioning, cable/satellite TV, direct-dial phone and a well-stocked minibar, guests can be assured of a warm, personal welcome. All the rooms have their own small balcony and several have lovely sea views. One of the rooms has been specially adapted to accommodate guests with disabilities. The hotel has a family-friendly approach with a special junior tariff for under-7s and a babysitting service.

A sumptuous Italian breakfast is served in the sunny breakfast room and guests can enjoy a coffee or a drink in the relaxing lounge/bar. There is 24-hour service on reception and courteous, professional staff are on hand to help guests with tourist information and travel advice.
