Located just minutes from the dazzling white cliffs of pumice which plunge into the emerald waters of the Tyrrhenian, the Hotel Mocambo is on the Baia of Canneto, on Lipari's eastern coast. This splendidly named hotel was once a group of fishermen's cottages. At night the men would set out to fish, returning with their gaily coloured boats (and their catch) the next morning. With the rise of Aeolian Island's tourism, the fisher families began to take in guests, joined together, and so the Hotel Mocambo was born.

Recently restructured and renovated, this Lipari hotel has every modern comfort. The rooms are comfortably and functionally furnished, with private bathrooms (bath and shower), phone, TV and air conditioning. All rooms have a balcony. Hotel services include a restaurant, bar and internet connections. From here you can stroll down to the beach at Canneto, and a little further to a beautiful strand of white sand. The hotel, lying near to the harbour, makes for the perfect location for boat trips around the coast and out to the neighbouring Aeolian islands of Vulcano, Stromboli and Salina.

Lipari itself has much to see. Buses run around the island and there is excellent hiking, while cycles and scooter make a great way to explore this little rock in the Tyrrhenian. There is the village of Pianoconte and the Roman baths at San Calogero. Check out the nearby fishing village of Canneto, with its pebbled beach and head up to the seaside hamlet of Porticello. Climb to Quattrocchi, with views over Vulcano and the faraglioni rocks which treacherously separate the two islands.
