Hotel Mosaico, Ravenna

Hotel Mosaico is an attractive, modern hotel overlooking Ravenna's atmospheric waterfront and just a stone's throw from the railway station and the austerely graceful Mausoleo di Teodorico. Named after Ravenna's spectacular Byzantine mosaics (which are considered to be some of the finest in the whole of Europe) Hotel Mosaico is the perfect stepping off point for a tour of this lovely city. Although in many ways Ravenna epitomises the quintessential modern Italian city, it has been named a World Heritage site with no less than eight monuments of outstanding historical importance. It was a city of immense importance during Italy's Byzantine era and the capital of the entire Western Roman Empire some 1600 years ago. There is plenty to see here, in the way of beautiful churches and wonderful museums, and of course, no visit to Ravenna would be complete without seeing some of her sensational mosaics.

Hotel Mosaico has 29 elegantly furnished rooms, all decorated in tasteful 1930s style, each with a modern ensuite bath/shower room plus satellite TV with optional news and movie channels, direct-dial telephone, internet connection, safety-deposit box and minibar. Every room is soundproofed and air-conditioned for optimum comfort, and family rooms or rooms with cots or cribs can be arranged for guests with young children. Provision has been made for guests with disabilities and all rooms are accessible either by lift or by ground-floor access.

A comfortable lounge/bar serves an extensive range of aperitifs and cocktails, and breakfast is served in the tranquil breakfast room.
