Hotel Nizza, Florence
This hotel in Florence is found amid some of the city's most important historical buildings. In between the Santa Maria Novella church and the Medici Chapel, the Hotel Nizza is also very convenient for the central train station and for business guests attending events at the exhibition and conference centres at Fortezza da Basso. (The church is magnificent to look at with its green-and-white marble facade and frescoes by Masaccio and Filippino Lippi). At the Medici Chapel you can see tombs carved by Michelangelo, as well as his sculpture of the Madonna and Child.
The elegant Duomo, designed by Brunelleschi, is the most prominent shape on the Florentine skyline, and is just a short walk away from the hotel, should you wish to admire the coloured marble exterior or take a tour around the interior. The bell-tower, or Campanile, was designed by Giotto and makes a great observation tower from which you can see the whole of Florence. Art lovers should head to the Uffizi Gallery for a superb collection of paintings, to the Bargello for sculpture, and to the Galleria dell'Accademia to see Michelangelo's world famous marble statue of David.
This Florence hotel is located in a historic building which dates back to the 17th century when it was used as a residence for monks of the nearby Santa Maria Novella monastery. Following a recent refurbishment, it now provides warm and inviting accommodation for both business and leisure travellers. The rooms are all air-conditioned with en-suite facilities, telephone and satellite TV.
