Castiglione D'Orcia is in the Siena province of Italy's lovely Tuscany region, some 40km south east of Siena and 90 km south east of Florence. It lies in the Val d'Orcia (valley) close to the ancient Via Cassia Roman road. Sights in the town include the Rocca (castle) Aldobrandesca, the Rocca Tentennano and the Romanesque churches of Santa Maddalena and Santi Stefano e Degna. This last has a Madonna and Child by Simone Martini and another by Pietro Lorenzetti.
