This attractively whitewashed hotel in Italy's Salerno province lies in the fascinating archaeological centre of Paestum. Originally an ancient Greek colony dating from around 600 BC, there is a wealth of ancient culture and history here, and the coastline here boasts over 17 kilometres of fine, sandy beach and beautiful clear water. This is a small, charming place to stay and the proprietors offer guests a warm, genuine welcome. The hotel was completely refurbished in 2006 and now offers excellent standards of comfort and hospitality.

There are just ten guest rooms at Paestum's Hotel Paistos, all with bathrooms and equipped with individually controlled air conditioning, satellite colour television, direct-dial telephone line and a well-stocked minibar. A tasty buffet breakfast is included in the room rate and quiet, well-behaved pets are welcome to join their owners here. Several of the rooms have a pretty terrace or balcony, furnished with comfortable chairs and a table; on the top floor there is a spacious roof garden where guests are welcome to sunbathe or watch the stars at night.

During the summer months, lunch and dinner are served "al fresco" on the restaurant terrace which overlooks the attractive gardens. The menu features typical local dishes and classic Mediterranean flavours; much of the produce used by the chef is organic and sourced locally in the naturally fertile land of this area and the clear waters of the Gulf of Salerno. Hotel Paistos also has a welcoming bar offering a good selection of drinks and light snacks. There is friendly, pleasant service on the front desk, where guests can find tourist information, book excursions or use the internet point. The hotel has a quiet meeting room and free parking and additional facilities include an outdoor children's play area, left-luggage and storage facilities and photocopying facilities.
