Hotel Palazzo del Corso, Gallipoli
Close to the historic centre of Gallipoli, on the Salentine coast of Puglia, the Hotel Palazzo del Corso is within a wonderful old building from the 19th century. Enjoy the traditional comforts and furnishings of this lovely Italian hotel while sacrificing none of the comforts you need on holiday. Rooms are singles, doubles and suites. All have radio, minibar, bathroom, phone, air conditioning, TV and balcony.
The hotel has a bar, 24-hour front desk, internet connection, babysitting, airport transfers and more. The front desk staff are on hand around the clock for any help and advice you need on making the most of your vacation on Puglia's Salentine Peninsula.
This lovely part of Italy, the very tip of the country's heel, has beautiful coastline on three sides, with the Adriatic Sea to the east and the Gulf of Taranto (Ionian Sea) to the south and west. This is a marvellously varied coastline of craggy cliffs topped by ancient and ruined lookout towers (invasion from Turkey to the east was always a threat during the Middle Ages). There are little coves and hidden caves, long stretches of sand and little secluded beaches. And there are the marvellous historic towns of Lecce, Gallipoli, Ostuni and many others.
Gallipoli itself has some superb beaches, while the old town sits upon a limestone islet, with a 16th century bridge linking it to the main body of the peninsula. The 'Ionian Pearl' as it is known has a number of important buildings including the Aragonese Castle (yet another one), St Agatha's Cathedral and the Greek fountain.
