The Hotel Palladio is in Marghera, on Veneto's mainland, and on the fringes of the Brenta Riviera. This area is famed for its magnificent patrician villas - built for the aristocratic families of Venice from the sixteenth century onwards, as an escape from the bustle and noise of their crowded city. The doyen of architects of these 'Veneto villas' was Andrea Palladio - who in rediscovering the lines of Roman and Greek buildings, invented the Neoclassical style that became known as 'Palladian' architecture.
