Originally a 17th-century convent and then a 19th-century manor house, this three-star hotel is now run by the Panazza family, who take great pleasure in ensuring their guests have a peaceful, relaxing stay. Hotel Panazza, near Bologna, is set in almost five acres of gardens and the rooms come in a range of levels of luxury, all of which offer warmth and comfort including mini bar, television and air conditioning. The Panazza restaurant is a carefully restored 16th-century room, complete with frescoes. Two swimming pools are also found outdoors, one with massaging water jets. In the summer, candlelit dinners are served next to the pools. The hotel is located in Mordano, about half way between the cities of the Bologna and Ravenna, on the Adriatic coast. The Enzo Ferrari racetrack is in Imola, only seven kilometres away. If you can drag yourself away from the home comforts of the Hotel Panazza, both Bologna and the beaches on the Adriatic make great day trips. Bologna has many cultural sights, including one of the largest churches in the world, as well as excellent designer shopping.
