Set in a luscious green park full of palm trees and flowers, the Hotel Parco Maria Terme makes a relaxing getaway. It is located in Cuotto, which is three kilometres away from the centre of Forio on the west of Ischia. There is a regular bus service to the centre, which runs from near the hotel. One of Ischia's many beautiful beaches, the Citara beach with its thermal springs, is within walking distance.

With four-star accommodation, this hotel has its own spa centre, offering a range of treatments administered by fully trained staff, as well as three thermal pools, which are all at different temperatures, and a gym. In addition there's a restaurant that is open for lunch, and a cafe which is open in the evenings and often has live music. Other facilities include a sun terrace, children's playground and a TV room. The rooms themselves are well appointed and standard double rooms all have a balcony or terrace. Forio has attracted some famous fans over the years, including poet WH Auden, who lived there for nine years, and playwright Henrik Ibsen. Nearby sights include the La Mortella gardens, which was the dream of English composer William Walton and the work of landscape gardener Russell Page. After Walton's death, his widow, Susana completed the garden, which is now flourishing with hundreds of exotic plant species. Further inland, you can enjoy spectacular views by walking to the summit of Monte Epomeo, Ischia's highest point.
